Classroom Management
I use paper fish with the students names on them for positive reinforcement. They start the day with 4. As a child follows rules, listens, makes good choices etc. They earn fish. At the end of the day, all fish are collected for a drawing, and a chance to spin for a prize.
When a student is having a hard time following class rules, I may ask the student to give me a fish. They need to immediately stop what they are doing and put a fish in my net. If they lose 3 fish before 1st recess, then I give them a walking ticket. The next time they lose a fish they need to do a stop and think for 10 min.
"Keeping The Peace"
As a class, students work on keeping the peace in our classroom. If our class gets a little too noisy or has a hard time following directions as a class, we are not keeping the peace, and we "lose" a piece. The whole class is rewarded at the end of the day based off of how many pieces are left on the board. If we "Keep the Peace" which means I didn't have to remove any of the pieces, the class gets a small prize. When our class Keeps the Peace for 10 times, they get to all go to the treasure box!
